When a surface mount component tape is used on an automatic pick and place machine,
the cover tape has to be pulled back 200 to 300mm to feed it into the winding arrangement of a tape feeder,
this can cause components in the pockets yet uncovered to be wasted.
This can be avoid by using SMD Cover Tape Extenders.
Instructions
1. removing the cover paper reveals the adhesive side of the yellow tape,
whose mark is aligned with the front edge of the component tape and stuck onto the cover tape.
2. The non-adhesive, transparent end of the strip can now be fed into the tape feeder.
3. There is no need to waste components when inserting a leaderless component tape into the feeder
4. The bond between the tape extender and the original cover tape is sufficient to ensure that they will not separate,even after prolonged time under tension.
