The standard wire clamps of ASMPT wire bonding machines are important spare parts.

Common models include the 01 – 91841 wire clamp applicable to the Eagle60 model and the 01 – 97473 wire clamp for the IHAWK R model. There are also wire clamps corresponding to wire bonding machines of models such as AB509, AB510, AB520, AB530, and AB559. The structures of wire clamps of different models vary.

These wire clamps are used to control the arc, tail wire length, wire feeding and pulling, etc. They are made of alloy, which endows them with good strength and wear resistance. They can stably hold wires such as gold wires, ensuring the accuracy and stability of the wire bonding process.
The specifications of some wire clamps are between 13mm – 19mm. The specific dimensions vary according to the model of the machine and the type of wire clamp.
During the wire bonding process, the wire clamps work in coordination with other components of the wire bonding machine. For example, after EFO (Electrical Discharge Fireballing), the wire clamp will open briefly to let the fired ball retract to the CD position of the capillary as much as possible, and then close. The wire clamp will also open when searching for the height position to prevent scratching or breaking the gold wire.
