The Vibratory Bowl Feeder for ASM SIPLACE X-Series Bulk Components is a bulk component feeding module that mounts on the ASM SIPLACE X-Series feeder rail and supplies unpackaged parts — screws, clips, nuts, springs, and odd-form metal components — to X2, X4, X4i, and X4S pick-and-place machines. A single fill holds up to 1.5 million components, eliminating tape packaging cost and reel changeover downtime. The feeder uses a SUS304 stainless steel bowl with adjustable vibration frequency to orient and advance parts to the pick position, where the placement head’s vacuum nozzle or mechanical gripper picks them for board placement.

Key Features
This feeder’s SUS304 stainless steel tray supports double stacking and multi-rail parallel feeding—two independently vibrating rails can feed two pick-up positions simultaneously, offering twice the throughput of a single-rail OEM bulk feeder. The adjustable vibration frequency (50–120 Hz) orients bulk parts (screws, clips, and irregularly shaped metal parts) into a single row on each rail. It can hold up to 1.5 million parts at a time, saving 0.02–0.05 kg of tape per part and avoiding the need to replace the tray every 3,000–5,000 parts.
Vibratory bowl feeder application scenarios:
1. Odd-form assembly: Screws, nuts, rivets, clips, springs, heat sinks—these components have irregular shapes and cannot be packaged with standard tape/tube/tray. A vibratory bowl feeder is the only feasible feeding method.
2. Large-volume bulk component processing (saving tape costs): Production lines consuming 50,000+ screws/clips daily. Bulk purchasing is 0.02–0.05 RMB cheaper per component than tape, saving 0.02–0.05 RMB per component per day, resulting in savings of 1,000–2,500 RMB per day. A single fill of 1.5 million components can last for 30 days without needing to change materials.
3. Automotive electronics/power modules: PCBs contain numerous metal components (screws securing heat sinks, terminals, inserts, clips). Mixed SMD components and metal components are mounted together; a vibratory bowl feeder and tape feeder work in parallel.
4. Through-Hole (THT) Hybrid Line
THT components (axial diodes, radial capacitors, terminals) are fed loosely into the vibratory feeder, using SIPLACE’s through-hole heads (such as SX’s OSC + Clinching), allowing for simultaneous SMT and THT processing on a single line.
5. High Mixed Volume, Low Turnover (Frequent Line Changeovers)
For multi-variety, low-batch production lines, loose components do not require pre-prepared tape (material preparation time reduced from hours to minutes). Line changeovers only require changing the feed bowl, completed in 5 minutes.
6. LED Lighting/Display Modules
Irregularly shaped components such as LED brackets, heat sink clips, and spring clips are uneconomical or nonexistent with tape packaging; the vibratory feeder directly feeds them loosely.
Unsuitable Scenarios:
Precision ICs (BGA/QFP) – require tray feeding; vibration can damage pins.
Miniature surface mount components such as 0402/0603 – tape feeding is more efficient and accurate.
Extremely low volume (<1000 units per day) – custom vibratory feeder costs are not cost-effective.
